THE STORY BEHIND MY NEW SINGLE "FOOT DOWN"

Peace world! I thought a lot about having my own blog where I can just write about the things that have been on my mind recently so, here it is! My first official blog entry. Reminds me of when I started my musical journey, trying to get on as many blogs as possible, lmao. Anyways, today I wanted to talk about the story behind my new song “FOOT DOWN”. Those that follow me on social media might know that I’ve recently been to Belgrade, Serbia to work on some music. “FOOT DOWN” is one of the songs that I have created during that time. What inspired me to write the song was a few conversations I had with some of the locals there. What stood out to me was the resilience of the city’s people. Not sure if you’re familiar with Balkan history but the city has endured multiple conflicts and it has been destroyed and rebuilt over 40 times. That was crazy to hear and it was really inspiring, leading to the creation of “FOOT DOWN”. I wanted to make a song about resilience as I can really relate, especially when it comes to being an artist building something from scratch, without a recipe. Often times all we have to succeed is resilience, and I think it has become one of my most important traits as an artist. ABOUT NEFEW

Not many artists have the ability to excel in a variety of disciplines. NEFEW (New Enlightenment From Every Word), a rising rapper, singer, and producer, doesn’t conform to any boundaries when it comes to creating. Although his passion might be rooted in hip-hop, his talents and deep love for music have given him the ability to cross over into different genres and apply his musical discoveries to his own work. NEFEW fell in love with music at an early age, coming from a lineage of musicians and avid music collectors. His father and grandfather were both musicians – his father still is – while his uncle shares the same deep passion for collecting records. Growing up surrounded by Hip-Hop, Jazz, Soul, Progressive Rock, and Electronic Music, studying and making music became second nature to him. Whether it was listening to records, playing the piano, soccer or skateboarding, these were the things that had a strong hold over him. No wonder music was never just a career choice – it was a calling he answered without hesitation.
