Closing off the year, NEFEW shares yet another self-produced banger. After releasing the smooth trap soul joint "Put Up", NEFEW showcases his versatility on "Low Key", combining sharp lyrics with a minimalistic yet bass-heavy backdrop.

Low Key marks the third and last single to be released in 2019.

NEFEW release "slides" ep

Today NEFEW make their return with their new EP "SLIDES".

The project represents NEFEW’s first effort after joining forces with record company EMPIRE, who has been releasing music for artists like Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q and Anderson Paak.  

The self-produced 6-tracks project is a melting pot of spherical melodies, banging 808s and melodic lyricism reminiscent of Toronto’s New Wave.

NEFEW JOIN FORCES WITH RECORD LABEL "EMPIRE"

We’re super excited to announce that we have joined forces with EMPIRE. The record label has been successfully releasing projects for artists such as Anderson Paak, Kendrick Lamar, Freddie Gibbs, Amir Obé, Schoolboy Q and many more. We want to thank the folks over at EMPIRE for giving us this amazing opportunity. It’s been a very long journey and we’re all looking forward to the things to come.

Not many artists have the ability to excel in a variety of disciplines. NEFEW (New Enlightenment From Every Word), a rising rapper, singer, and producer, doesn’t conform to any boundaries when it comes to creating. Although his passion might be rooted in hip-hop, his talents and deep love for music have given him the ability to cross over into different genres and apply his musical discoveries to his own work. NEFEW’s lyrics tell stories that everyone can relate to, and as they paint a picture beyond the ordinary, his fans and listeners grow with him.

NEFEW fell in love with music at an early age, coming from a lineage of musicians and avid music collectors. His father and grandfather were both musicians – his father still is – while his uncle shares the same deep passion for collecting records. Growing up surrounded by Hip-Hop, Jazz, Soul, Progressive Rock, and Electronic Music, studying and making music became second nature to him. Whether it was listening to records, playing the piano, soccer or skateboarding, these were the things that had a strong hold over him. No wonder music was never just a career choice – it was a calling he answered without hesitation.
